Port Arthur's Pleasure Island, an 18.5 mile long man-made body of land, extends from the mouth of the Neches River on the northwest to the Sabine Causeway on the southeast and is surrounded by Sabine Lake and the Sabine Neches Intracoastal Waterway.

Pleasure Island is a place of beauty.  Its hills, bluffs, and vistas of Sabine Lake are a delight and pleasure to those who visit.  Pleasure Island is where the fun begins!

NOTICE:  The Palms at Pleasure Island was severely damaged by Hurricane Ike in September 2008.  The course is scheduled to re-open in late 2011.

Nestled into 152 acres, The Palms at Pleasure Island boasts spectacular views of 350 palm trees, the Sabine Neches Waterway, marshland, wooded areas, and numerous elevation changes.  The par 72 (36-36) course has four sets of tees for golfers of varied skills: 

  • 6,906 yards from the black (Rating 73.0/Slope 128)
  • 6,311 yards from the blue (Rating 70.9/Slope 123)
  • 5,780 yards from the white (Rating 68.0/Slope 119)
  • 5,109  yards from the yellow (Rating 65.3/Slope 105). 

Miniverde greens, Tiff sport fairways, and 43 sand bunkers add to the allure of the course.

The driving range has two putting greens, including one with a place to practice sand shots.  The fully stocked pro shop overlooks the Sabine Neches Waterway.  The adjacent snack bar offers hot and cold sandwiches, assorted snacks, soft drinks, and beer.

NOTE:  The irrigation system was destroyed by Hurricane Ike in 2008.  Plans are underway for the installation of a new system.  With growing season the key element, the goal is to reopen in late 2011.
